Art Festival

Art festival is a time when the students display their many talents.  Entries are made according to department and year in university.  Some of the entry categories were solo dance, band song, band dance, solo song, classical dance, and drama.  There were 2 students MCing the event and introducing the performers and the category in which they were being judged for their performance.  The judges consisted of the deans of the departments, the dean of academic/student affairs and the director of student affairs.  We were not able to attend the full day of performances due to a meeting at our home that evening.  However, we enjoyed being able to watch some of our students perform and visiting with some of our students during the break between the morning and afternoon performances.  One of the specific performances we really enjoyed was done by the sophmores for the International Business Management Department.  We hope that you enjoy the pictures that we took to document this occasion!

The Main Hall was packed, standing room only!

This is Yuna and John, the MCs

The pictures to the left and directly above are of the International Business Management Sophomores.  They sang Fix You, a song that the group Coldplay sings. They sounded just like Coldplay! (The student who is the lead singer, in the white shirt, is Timmy.)

Esther and Samuel sang a song together.

This student was dancing the salsa.  Byambaa is one of our students.

Can you guess who they are pretending to be?

MTP in Sanzai

Shortly after the first semester began, our department had a full day outing with all of our students.  Several of our students were not able to attend, but we had an enjoyable time with those that were able to attend.  Sanzai is a location outside of the city where many Mongolians have summer homes.  Since this was in the fall many of the trees were changing colors and it was a little cool.  The pictures that follow show you the type of activities we had while we spent a day outside of the city!

             Joshua's Juniors posing!

Uplift for this student, she has almost completely lost her vision in her left eye overnight.  We just found this out as second semester classes started up.

Joshua's Juniors won the prize, a yummy cake!

Disco time for the freshmen!

Our groups of students.   Joshua with the Juniors and Jennifer with the Sophmores.

The small group in the picture to the left is of some Sophmores.  The man and woman in the front of the group is one of our department co-workers and his wife.  They are very sweet people and a joy to work with.  She fell on the ice in November and broke her ankle in a couple of places and has been laid up since then trying to fully recover.  Her complete diagnosis came when they were visiting folks in the States during our winter vacation.  The health care available in Mongolia is not the best and often times misdiagnosis happens.  Uplift for Eunice's recovery.

Still to come.............. more events with our students!!!!!
